Canton Fire Department to Host Open House During National Fire Prevention Week
CANTON — Chief Charles E. Doody is pleased to announce that the Canton Fire Department will be hosting an open house this week as part of their programming for National Fire Prevention Week.
WHEN:
Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE:
Canton Fire Department Headquarters, 99 Revere St.
WHAT:
Families and residents are invited to attend this free event where they can meet some of Canton’s firefighters and learn important fire safety tips.
Participants will be shown a live burn and sprinkler system demonstration and a Jaws of Life extrication tool demonstration.
There will be tours of the fire station and plenty of activities for kids including a bouncy house, climbing through the fire trucks and taking turns spraying a hose.
Adults and children will have the opportunity to view the fire trucks and the equipment that firefighters use everyday.
Food and refreshments will be served.
National Fire Prevention Week is from Oct. 7-13. In a fire, every second counts. It is important for Canton residents to know what to do if there is a fire. Fire safety education isn’t just for school children.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere,” works to educate people about three ways they can reduce the likelihood of having a fire—and how to escape safely if they have one.
